Welcome to my Life is a Journey of Escapes. Thanks for your interest. I am Betty LaMarr, a California Girl with southern values. My early years were in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. I still have memories of taking the train to California and seeing palm trees for the first time. I have been in love with travel for many years.
My first trip out of the country was from California to Canada, just on the other side of Niagara Falls. I didn’t realize that was the beginning of my wanderlust.
Since then, I have visited more than 50 countries and territories and lived abroad for four years in South Africa. The period of living as an expatriate was more life-changing than I could have ever imagined.
Redesigning My Next Chapter
I have been fortunate to have several careers, from tech executive to entrepreneur and non-profit executive. While I worked hard, I made sure I planned a couple of trips a year to revitalize myself and continue giving to others. Along the way, others expressed admiration and desire to do likewise.
In many cases, they would express a desire to travel with me. Many people saw my travel as courageous and adventuresome. Others saw my story and journeys of escape as inspiring. Through my experiences, others could imagine joy through traveling and seeing different cultures.
Escapes for the Next Chapter
On the journey for my next chapter, I will be spreading the joy of travel to other hardworking women. I am creating this platform to share my travels and encourage others to step into that place of adventure and find happiness in the unknown and unfamiliar.
This blog is dedicated to the women who are 50 plus who have achieved so much and now are ready to give more love and joy to themselves through travel. These are people who recognize that Life is a Journey of Escapes! You only pass this way once; let’s enjoy the journey!
I know these women because I met them in Corporate America and as an Executive Coach. These are successful women who have worked hard and made sacrifices for their careers and families and are now at a stage where it is” Now is My Time”! I know that they are ready to make themselves a top priority, and luxury travel is one way to do just that.
I have a group of girlfriends I have been traveling with for over two decades. We make a point to get together once a year, somewhere in the world. This all started when we all met up in 2000 on a beach in Durban, South Africa, to bring in the new year.
Women like to commune and fellowship. This ritual continues to this day. We did miss out in 2020 because of the pandemic, but we are starting again. I hope to give you all the inspiration and information you need to say ‘count me in!
